I always wished to be the child of a shop owner! My parents almost bought a shop near Brighton at one point. I was so disappointed when it fell through! I wasn’t very entrepreneurial as a child but I spent about a year at Sunday school. I was given three pennies for the collection box but I soon learned to put one in the box and keep two. When Sunday school ended I was straight over to the sweet shop. You could get quite a few sweets for two pennies!

This is so naughty I love it! I'm now wondering whether our parents gave us these opportunities to see what we'd do with them 🤨

I had 5p to go to Saturday Morning Pictures with my girlfriend but we used to walk home and save 2p of bus fair to spend on sweets from Woolworths.

I remember the peg dolls! They were great and such a good idea should have been a sellout. Love ❤️ the photos of you 😘

I never trusted that Jenna!

I’m afraid my most lucrative enterprise was stealing from the newsagents I worked at. £1.65 for a packet of cigarettes, I’d ring up 65p on the till and after five of these stuff a fiver in my socks.

I had very fat ankles at the end of the day. I spent it all on records and cider.

🤣 Wow what a racket! Were you ever found out?

No, but I hid my money under my mattress and my mum found it.

She told me off but I think she was a little bit happy as I was usually such a quiet and well behaved one.

They were paying £1.50 an hour, which even then was awful. That’s my excuse anyway.

I used to set up games from a ‘fun fair’ on my stairs, and make anyone walking past pay 20p to pick out a tiny piece of rolled up paper from a piece of cardboard that I punched holes in , if it had win written on it, they would get a penny sweat 😂

Loving the pics of little Faithiepop! The entrepreneurial spirit was always there.

When I was about 7, I started selling "sparkly gems" (gravel) in the school playground for 1p or 2p each. I got in so much trouble! Secretly I think my parents thought it was hilarious.

No way!! This is so cheeky I love it - you were a marketing genius even then!

Great memories and very enterprising, Faith! The peg dolls! I’d forgotten all about those. I used to make them, too.

We’d put on a song and dance performance for our neighbours in the street as kids and charge them sixpence to attend. I’m sure we were worth it!

At last I’ve found a kindred spirit!! Thanks Wendy. Wow - I love that you charged for that - are kids as ballsy these days I wonder?!
